Day 15: Thu 8 Sep - Sydney to Brisbane to Hervey Bay to Hippo Farm

I had a very nice room, #1211 on the top floor of the Stamford Plaza; very well appointed and very soundproof. Thank goodness I had been upgraded as there were a lot of people that were accommodated in the Ibis, which is the Budget version at the airport. I guess I probably would not have slept any worse, but it was nice to be in a decent hotel. We all got a $50 credit to use at the hotel and had I had a later flight I could have had breakfast. However, breakfast only started at 5am, and I had to be on the 5am shuttle back to the airport. So, I did not get to spend the $50.

I had enough time at the airport to have some breakfast and coffee x2 in the QANTAS Business Lounge (I had another upgrade) before boarding. I only had a small bite in the lounge as I knew we would get something on the plane - squishy poached eggs, bacon, mushrooms and spinach. Needless to say I did not eat it all.

Watched the end of the movie I started watching last night and had a few minutes snoozing before landing in Brisbane. I went straight to the QC and had another coffee to try and stay awake. I had 2.5 hours to kill before boarding for Hervey Bay so spent the time productively by writing these notes.

I was quite surprised when we boarded and took off on time.  We were in the Dash 8-400 which goes a little faster than the 300 version, so we landed 10 mins early.  I texted Greg to let him know I had landed, and then again when I had my bag – it was first out.  Greg met me at the very short-term drop-off and pick-up area and took me home.

It was so nice to be home.  It was even better because it was a Thursday which meant Pub night and I did not have to cook.  I did however, unpack my bags and have a little snooze.

The Congress will be in Seoul next year, Glasgow in 2018, and then Abu Dhabi in 2019.
